FAMILY GATHERING (PART 3): Saturday 2 June 2012, from 5.00 pm to 8.00 pm, @ Fairlight Centre, Tooting Broadway, London.

THEME: THE RIGHT AND THE DUTIES OF PARENT/CHILDREN

This meeting was in fact a follow-up on our previous meetings. It’s all about creating a platform in order to get parents and children to engage in a healthy dialogue and thus solve family issues in our community. Under the direction of the moderator, Papa Vincent Cibwabwa, 3 groups were formed were questions related to the above-mentioned theme were answered. Then, the representatives of each group gave a brief summary of their discussions. Next, our brother Patrick Motindo gave a very powerful testimony of his life in order to encourage our young people to make the most of the many opportunities that the UK offers. Our Pastor Paul then encouraged us to have an Aim (Vision) in life, an Inspiration and a Motivation. Then and only then will we lead a life of impact and excellence.

EASTER SUNDAY – SPECIAL YOUTH SERVICE, Saturday 8 April 2012

For the 3rd time in two years our youths led the whole Easter service from start to finish. The service featured Praise and Worship, a presentation from our Sunday school children, a sermon, an exhortation, and a Easter-related activity. It was mostly about reminding us of the true meaning of EASTER. Our Lord Jesus-Christ is risen, alive and life-giving. Therefore, there is hope for us!

A DAY OF RETREAT AND PRAYER, Saturday 7 April 2012

Between 10.00 am and 5.00 pm, we were hosted by the Cibwabwa Family at their South Norwood home. We very much enjoyed the glorious presence of The Lord. Led by the Holy Spirit, we sang hymns, shared the Word of God and fervently prayed. All in all, a day to remember, a day full of divine blessings (Psalm 133). Can’t wait for the next one!

Family Gathering 1: Saturday, 18 June 2011, from 4.30 p.m. to 9.00 p.m. at Fairlight Center (Tooting Broadway)

Parents, youths and children had a constructive and productive dialogue (though heated at times!) on topics as diverse as cultural values, education, identity, risk assessment in life ... and of course the importance of Family as a God-ordained Institution.

The youths and children present at the meeting criticized their parent’s upbringing methods branding them “ not lenient enough" in the European context, to which parents replied that though they might appear "dictatorial" and "outdated"  at first sight, these methods are actually and truly love-driven with only one ultimate goal intended: the welfare of their children.
Obviously, concessions must be made on both sides, for our families to experience harmony and peace ... May God help us do just that.

The highlight of this meeting was undoubtedly the moving testimony of our Brother Joel Miatudila, who taught us how important is Family (and parents in particular whom we should highly cherish and value).

To all of you who attended this great event, a massive thank you!

Sporting Day, Saturday, May 21, 2011, from 2.00 pm to 5.00 pm, in Croydon (Waddon Park)

A breathtaking (literally and figuratively) football game opposed The Rock of Ages Men and the Youths. Final score:   a trashing 9-3, to our youths!
The Men have promised to avenge that thumping defeat! Watch out for Game 2...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Evangelistic Outing, Saturday, 16 April 2011, from 3.00 p.m. to 4.00 p.m. at Tooting Broadway Tube Station (London)

"For I am not ashamed of the gospel ..." Rom 1: 16

Our youths took the streets of Tooting Broadway by storm handing leaflets out to passers-by (about 500 flyers were distributed on this glorious day). Let us all pray that God through His Spirit will touch the hearts of those who received those tracts!

Conference- “Where are you?” on Saturday 31 July 2010, from 5 pm to 9 pm, at Fairlight Center (Tooting Broadway), for Men and Women and Youths.

An attentive audience, exciting discussions, and ... a summery weather! These were the ingredients that made this event a resounding success.

The question “Where are you?” obviously reminds us of God’s famous question to Adam, after his fall in the Garden of Eden. (Genesis 3)

Though it looks simple at first sight, the question “Where are you?" is actually a complex one that relates to many areas of our lives: Family, Education, Church, Society  ...

It also takes us back to our responsibilities, which we must not duck but honor.

Workshops made of Men, Women and Youths were formed to answer a relevant questionnaire on that very topic. A spokesperson for each group subsequently presented a report of their discussions to the audience.

Pastor Paul Kabasele then wrapped up the debate with a unifying address.

Finally, a fraternal meal was shared at the end of this very informative and productive day.

To God be all the glory!

Men, Women and Youths… take responsibility!
