Youth Ministry
« How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to Your Word” (Ps 119, 9)
To his pertinent question, the psalmist gives a wise answer indeed! And we at the Rock of Ages Christian Assembly believe that The Word of God is the panacea to the long list of all the youth issues today.
Truly, only the Word of God has the power to purify the polluted thoughts of our young people who are constantly bombarded with corrupted material by the media. Only the Word of God has the power to keep our young people away from the dangerous paths they so naively walk into. Only the Word of God has the power to give them back their real identity which is so easily stolen and forged by our wicked society. Only the Word of God can channel their fiery passion and engrave their hearts with Christian values, thus setting them up to become the champions of tomorrow.
In Great Britain, more than anywhere else in Europe, some increasingly disturbing statistics are associated with young people. How do we keep them away from this vicious circle into which they are drawn, sometimes with fatal consequences? How do we help them use their time in an efficient and productive way? How do we instill an interest for God into them as well as a passion for the things of God?
These are the key issues we are focused on tackling within our Ministry.
This Ministry can be seen as a training ground where the youths (who are the future of tomorrow) are prepared in order to excel in every good work and become people who commend respect and admiration within the society. In a nutshell, we ultimately want to turn our youths into believers who indeed are the Salt of the Earth and the Light of the World.
Our monthly meetings are friendly and informal. They first aim to establish a solid and firm spiritual foundation through biblical Faith-building teachings. For we believe that without this sound foundation, any growth of this Ministry is but sheer fiction (Eph 2; Ps 127: 1)
Activities:
We strive to make them both edifying and fun:
We organize:
a) Agapes/Fellowships (with other Youth Ministries), in order to strengthen our brotherly bonds and share (and hopefully improve) our working methods.
b) Outings: Film showings (education-themed or Christian-themed), cultural trips, picnics, barbecues…
c) Debates on a range of youth-related issues (Anti-Social Behavior, Youth Crime, Sexuality, Education…)
d) Evangelical outings. This particular ministry (The Great Commission) should appear on every Christian’s CV. So we better get used to it! (Matt 28, 18-20)
f) Special Youth Services which are conceived, directed and presented by youths.
g) And much much more…!
